a dog is not a necessary requirement to attend, loving dogs is!

Get Back to Nature - Spend the day in the woods! 6 MILE HIKES AVAILABLE Join us for a walk in the woods with dogs and socializing to Pine Meadow Lake and get yourself invigorated. Nothing could be better than spending time outdoors with friends and canines! This is perfect for large- or medium-sized, socialized dogs or small energetic dogs capable of hiking. If you don’t have a dog but wish you did, you can come, too! It will be a barking good time.
We'll head through rugged, rocky paths as we hike up craggy rises and past marshes. As you head upwards you will come to the Cascade of Slid with its many waterfalls nestled among giant boulders. Cross a bridge and then pass the Stone Giants, fantastic granite rock formations broken into blocks by weathering.

ABOUT THE DOGS:
We trust that only socialized dogs will sign up for this trip. Please remember that as the owner, you are responsible for your dog. Unneutered male dogs: Due to aggression & territory issues that inevitably arise, we cannot allow unneutered male dogs on our trips.
REQUIREMENTS:
Well-behaved dog, water and drinking receptacle for your pet, leash, brush or comb
BRING: Lunch and 2 liters of water (minimum for you) plus water for your pet. You may want to even bring hot chocolate for this one!
DOWNTOWN DEPARTURE TIME: 8:20 AM at 110 Greenwich St. (between Carlisle & Rector Sts.)
UPTOWN DEPARTURE TIME: 9:00 AM at 73 and Broadway, NE corner (in front of Apple Bank). Please arrive for check-in at 8:45am.

Join Outdoor Bound and Leashes and Lovers and your four legged best friend on the mighty Hudson River for 3.5 hours of paddling and a trip around an island with an abandoned castle. Dogs ride in the kayak with you, or jump off for a swim in calm waters out of the channel.
After an open water paddling workshop, you will be ready to navigate the waters of the Hudson River. With fast moving current, dynamic hydraulic conditions, unique sites and history, the Hudson river estuary is truly a world class sea kayaking resource providing an unlimited amount of on-water fun.
We’ll be paddling through a beautiful section of the Hudson, near West Point and Storm King. Learn about New York’s military history and how this mysterious castle came to be.
Life jackets are required for you; some dog life jackets are available on site. You are encouraged to bring a dog life jacket that fits your pooch perfectly (any good pet supply store has them). After the paddle, we’ll toss back a beer or two on shore.
Skill Requirements
You need to have some experience kayaking, be confident in the water and know how to swim. Good core strength and endurance are required. Example: If you can do 20 push ups, if you work out three or more times per week, or practice yoga, you will be fine.
Kayaks will be sit-on-top sea kayaks which are very stable, or classic “sit inside” decked kayaks with room for your dog. The return may bring us some headwinds, so a good workout is guaranteed. You must be taller than 4’10” to participate and height/weight proportionate.
There is guaranteed to be wake from passing ships and ferries, strong current and tidal surge. Please carefully consider your abilities before signing up. You need to be fit, strong and close to your ideal weight. All gear is included: kayak, paddles, life jacket (humans). Bring a life jacket for your dog to ensure the best fit.
Event Details
WEAR Non-cotton athletic clothing (i.e. wicking material) and a swimsuit underneath; dry change of clothes for afterward. Windbreaker/shell and hat. River shoes (dive boots, neoprene booties, Tevas or old tennis shoes—no flip-flops!)
BRING: Your lunch and snacks, 2 -3 Liters of water in bottles or Camelbak, towel and dry change of clothes. (Dry clothes, etc. can be left in the van). Food, water and life jacket for your dog (there are a few rentals available, but small dogs should have their own). Drybags are available, or bring your own. Beer for the cooler if you wish.
DEPARTURE TIME AND LOCATIONS DOWNTOWN: 9:40 AM 14th Street & 6th Avenue (in front of Dunkin Donuts): check in at 9:30 AM. 10:00 AM 73rd Street & Broadway, NE corner (in front of Apple Bank) Please arrive by 9:45 AM for check-in

A very special outing for you and your pooch. Join Leashes and Lovers and Outdoor Bound for a jaunt to the North Fork wineries, lunch and off-leash running on the beach! Could you—and your dog—be any happier?
First, hit the beach and let your dogs run free! What a better way to let loose and tire out your dog than with a walk/run on the beach (leashed or unleashed).
We’ll break for lunch at the beach, then visit the dog-friendly wineries on the North Fork of Long Island for some of the most wonderful wine in the country. North Fork New York wines are fast becoming renowned for their exquisite taste. We’ll take part in two private wine-tastings at two extraordinary vineyards. Plus lots of dog-related goodies!
