Leashes and Lovers is Where Dog Lovers Meet.

People who love dogs are a "special breed" and our mission is to connect you with "real people" who love dogs as much as you -- online and in person.  We founded this company in 2003 with this idea in mind.

Dog lovers stand out from the pack. We are friendly, loyal, open, and fun! And, like dogs, we come in all sizes, colors and ages, but all in all, we have common ground -- a love of dogs. 

Leashes and Lovers welcomes all dog lovers with and without dogs -- single, committed or married. Whether you're looking for friends, a relationship, and/or resources to find dog-friendly products and services to suit you and your best friend's needs, this is the place to be.

We support all dogs and their owners and encourage adoption from shelters.  Through your participation, we donate to animal organizations in need. See Charity.

Charity

Leashes and Lovers is dedicated to helping animals.

Leashes and Lovers supports responsible guardianship and care for animals.

Every dog needs a home. Leashes and Lovers is active in promoting awareness, community involvement, and in giving to animal shelters and rescue groups.

Our cocktail parties are fun, warm, and lively social settings to not only connect dog lovers to one another, but to also connect the community to local shelters and adoptable animals looking for homes. Many times, adoptable dogs can be found socializing at our events in hopes of finding their perfect match.

Since we began in 2003,  Leashes and Lovers has donated a portion of its proceeds to various animal organizations, shelters, and rescue groups in the local area.

Behind the Paws Story

Sheryl Matthys
President and Founder of Leashes and Lovers

Sheryl knows what it means to deal with relationship challenges.  Her own husband just "wasn't into dogs" prior to her.  Now he is devoted to Shiraz (Certified Therapy Dog) and Buffett, their two rescued greyhounds.  Sheryl has a psychology degree and master's in Radio/TV. She's an actress, show host, and former TV/Radio news reporter, and adjunct professor at the University of Notre Dame.  She is attending Animal Behavior College to become a certified dog trainer and animal behaviorist. 

AKA "The DogSexpert"

Sheryl is the first and only "DogSexpert." She's  the leader of the pack at sniffing out the topics on the tongues of dog lovers. At events, in the media and in her DogSexpert column, this dedicated dog owner knows the impact dogs have on creating and/or maintaining relationships between humans.  

Sheryl is  well versed as an expert for media interviews.
